Departments

Each employee in DARTER Company will choose a class (or department) to study throughout the year. Classes (Departments) are full-year courses that give employees the opportunity to earn college credits and/or scholarships through Tech Prep and Florida Bright Futures. Here are the different departments (classes) offered in DARTER Company:


Administrative Office Technology
Prerequisite: BST
This course is designed for those employees who enjoy working in an office setting. Employees will learn office procedures and communication skills through the use of technology. AOT Employees will apply skills learned in BST to make an office work more effciently.
To qualify for Florida Gold Seal Scholarship in this area you must
take BSA and have an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA and a GPA
of 3.5 in IT classes: BST, AOT & BSA

Digital Design I
Prerequisite: BST and Teacher approval with a B or higher in your latest technology class. Otherwise you must have a DARTER Company teacher approval.
This course is designed to develop basic entry level skills required for careers in the digital design industry. The content includes computer skills, digital design concepts, layout, design and digital imaging using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Employees can earn college credit hours and this course is part of the AoIT and Florida Gold Seal scholarship program. To qualify for Florida Gold Seal Scholarship in this area you must take Digital Design II and have an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA and a GPA of 3.5 in IT classes: BST, Digital Design I & II

Digital Design II
Prerequisite: Digital Design I and DARTER Company teacher Invitation only.
This course is designed to provide advanced design concepts using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. The content also includes assisting the professional jobs for the school and possibly the community. The year will give the employees an opportunity to build a portfolio for industry use. This course is part of the AoIT and Florida Gold Seal scholarship program. To qualify for Florida Gold Seal Scholarship in this area you must take Digital Design I and have an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA and a GPA of 3.5 in IT classes: BST, Digital Design I & II

Web Design I
Prerequisite: BST and Teacher approval with a B or higher in your latest technology class. Otherwise you must have a DARTER Company teacher approval. This course is designed to provide an overview of the internet, intranet, and WWW. The content includes operating systems, HTML commands, navigation of the intent, intranet, and Web, and Web page design and formatting. Employees will have the opportunity to create their own Web pages and start a portfolio for future reference. This course is part of the AoIT and Florida Gold Seal scholarship program. To qualify for Florida Gold Seal Scholarship in this area you must take Web Design II and have an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA and a GPA of 3.5 in IT classes: BST, Web Design I & II

Web Design II
Prerequisite: Web Design I and DARTER Company Teacher Approval
This course is designed to provide advance design concepts using Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Flash and advanced HTML concepts such as CSS and JavaScript. The content also includes Internet and intranet navigation, Web site promotion, website publishing, advance HTML commands and other multimedia applications. Employees can earn college credit hours and this course is part of the AoIT and Florida Gold Seal scholarship program. To qualify for Florida Gold Seal Scholarship in this area you must take Web Design II and have an unweighted 3.0 cumulative GPA and a GPA of 3.5 in IT classes: BST, Web Design I & II

Web Design III
Prerequisite: Web Design II and DARTER Company teacher Invitation only
This course is designed to provide advanced concepts in design, Web editors, multimedia, and internet tools. Employees will get the opportunity to work in design teams, and alone, to design update and complete official websites. Employees will create and build a port folio that can be used in industry to fulill future opportunities in web design jobs. This course is part of the AoIT program.
