Bring notebook, dividers and pens (blue or black ink only!!).

 

Unit:  The Rise of Agriculture

Topic:  World Geography, Neolithic Revolution

Text Reading:  Ch. 1, From Human Prehistory to the Early Civilizations.

Summary/Discussion: This week we will be focusing on how to use the text book, what to expect in an AP class, class rules and procedures, look at a little geography.  We will be reading some of Ch. 1 in class to review effective reading and note taking strategies.  After this week the reading will be completed by the beginning of the week.

 

Notes and class discussion of the Neolithic Revolution will focus on (but will not be limited to):

1)      The definition of civilization.

2)      Culture of Paleolithic hunting and gathering societies.

3)      Differences between hunting and gathering societies and intensive hunting and gathering societies.

4)      How the Neolithic Revolution transformed the material life and social organization of human communities.

 

Homework: Timeline of Your Life—due Monday/Tuesday Aug. 18/19.
