Apopka's JROTC is a class based on leadership skills and traits. The main goal of Marine Corps JROTC is to shape those students, or as they call them cadets into the leaders of tomorrow.
A cadet starts off as an LE-1 and finishes as an LE-4,
if he/she plans to take four years of the course. As an LE-1 you learn the basics
of drill as well as the history of the Marine Corps. By the time a cadet reaches
his fourth year, also known as an LE-4, they are expected to set an example
to those cadets who are coming into or currently enrolled into the program.
The JROTC program contains about 400 students, making them the biggest JROTC
program in the United States. The program consists of several different teams
also known as Drill Team, Rifle Team, and PFT Team (Personal Fitness Training).
All these three teams compete in competitions around the state or region.
Drill Team stems off into two different drill units.
The first team is known as the Standard Varsity Platoon, which contains separate
teams for the males and females. The second team is known as the Varsity Exhibition
Platoon, which also contains separate teams for the males and females.
